About Clean Your TV

Who runs Clean Your TV, why it exists, and how the device lists are made.

Why this site exists

Many smart TVs show ads on the home screen and run tracking services in the background. In October 2026 an open-source project called CleanYourTV showed that these can be switched off from a computer over Wi-Fi. It works, but it asks you to run a coding assistant in a terminal. We make the same idea easier: search your model and get a plain-English list of what to switch off, what to keep and how to undo it.

We are independent and unofficial

Clean Your TV is not the official CleanYourTV project and is not affiliated with it, with any TV maker or with Google. The name is similar because the job is similar. If you are comfortable with a terminal, the free project is a good choice and you should look at it.

Where the lists come from

The device lists are adapted from the MIT-licensed Gathin23/cleanyourtv repository, which holds community-contributed and community-tested lists for hundreds of models. We parse them, group them, and show the maintainers' notes and the keep lists next to each model. We have not tested every model ourselves and say so on every pack.

How we keep it current

We re-import the source lists regularly. When the source changes, the page changes, and the "last updated" date on a pack moves only when its content did.
